This large painting brings together Sophie’s love of traditional Japanese art and her abiding commitment to painting all manner of animal subjects. The Kano School was a dominant style of  Japanese art throughout the Edo period and  is one of the most significant movements in Japanese art history, particularly focused on subjects from the natural world.
